Tram Bracket
The Spindle
Tram Bracket is designed to hold a mechanical, electronic
or LVDT indicator (with .375 Mounting Post) exactly
6 inches off centerline. The bracket is attached to
the spindle using a 5/8 collet. The indicator is zeroed
against a surface that is flat and aligned to the major
or minor axis. The axis is moved 12 inches and the indicator
reading recorded. The machine is then returned to the
starting position and the spindle rotated 180 degrees.
This reading is then algebraically added to the first
reading. The resultant value is the spindle squareness
to the axis under measure in inches per foot.
